Entry Requirements

To be considered for the BDF Officer Cadet programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a citizen of Botswana, male or female.

  • Possess a valid National Identity Card (Omang).

  • Aged between 18 and 28 years.

  • Be physically and mentally fit.

  • Have no criminal record.

  • Minimum height: 160 cm for males, 155 cm for females.

  • Minimum weight: 55 kg for males, 45 kg for females.

  • Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of recruitment or during training.

Minimum Qualifications and Career Fields

Applicants are required to hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Candidates must select only one career field, although the Commander reserves the right to deploy officers as needed.

Recruitment Centers

BDF has set up Mobile Recruitment Centers in the following locations:

  • Gantsi

  • Kasane

  • Tsabong

  • Maun

  • Francistown

  • Palapye

  • Gaborone (Main Centres: SSKB, Village Garrison, Glen Valley Barracks)
